Putting All Children First

Host a Lunch

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20

Guided by the Gospel, the CCSP works to help children and their families in their moment of need, when life has become even tougher than normal and the light at the end of the tunnel is dim. Working together with Catholic Children’s Society, the Catholic community can reach out a hand to those less fortunate than themselves and in doing so share God’s love.

Host a roast or something similar on the feast of the  Epiphany or during Lent to raise funds for families and children in need

HOST AN EPIPHANY FEAST

Lets CELEBRATE the Epiphany and bring our communities together to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. How many of us really celebrate the Epiphany? For most people, Christmas finishes just as it starts with decorations taken down on Boxing Day and ‘Sales’ starting in the shops. And for those of us that do observe the twelve days of Christmas we don’t actually celebrate the feast; unlike countries such as Spain, where they celebrate Dia de los Reyes (Three Kings Day) and exchange gifts.

Invite a few family and friends round to share lunch or dinner.

Enjoy a meal together

Ask your guests kindly for a donation to the CSSP in return for your hospitality

Celebrate!
Knowing that your generosity will be providing for a family or child who may not have a meal not only on the Epiphany but every day.

SHARE A LENTEN LUNCH

You might want to organise your Lenten Lunch in the church hall after weekday or Sunday Mass or at maybe at school, inviting parents and carers in for a community shared meal. Alternatively  you might just invite  a few friends round to enjoy a bowl of soup around the kitchen table. A simple raffle could also be organised to raise a little extra but only if it is not too much trouble.

PRAYER: Coming together to give to others is a prayer in itself.
FASTING: Forego lunch or even your evening meal for a frugal alternative such as soup and a roll or bread and cheese
ALMS GIVING: Ask all who come to donate their ‘lunch money’ to the Catholic Children’s Society

Here parishioners from Abby Rd, Torquay are enjoying lunch at a parishioner’s home.

From three lunches £260 was raised for vulnerable children across the diocese. £260 will provide a needy family with a washing machine or cooker or five children with a school uniform!
