How to Help

Advent Appeal

Our fundraising focus in Advent is recycling. You can have a clear out and benefit others at the same time. In larger parishes you may have noticed orange boxes sprouting and these are where you can leave your unwanted items. For more details please checkout our recycling page

Support our First Eleven

Support the brave souls running the 2012 Rome marathon for the Society. Go to our Latest News page for more details.

Recycling logoRecycle your inkjet cartridges

You can feel good and help us at the same time by clicking here to get an envelope in which to recycle your old inkjet cartridges (please note not Epson) and mobile phones. There are now 19 people signed up as supporters.

Save up your stamps

Any stamps (including collections) used or unused can be collected. If they are on envelopes or cards, please leave about half a centimetre round the edges. Please don’t peel off stamps – it reduces their value.
Other items that can be collected include old envelopes, first day covers, postcards, pre 1940s stationery, coins and bank notes, old
keys, precious metals, watches, medals, badges.
If your parish doesn’t have an orange box (see recycling page) then fill an envelope with stamps and mail direct to:

Selling and buying on ebay

We are now registered with MissionFish which means that there are two ways you can contribute through your online shopping:
a) the Society can receive donations from eBay Community Sellers. Community Sellers may, while listing an item through eBay for Charity, search and select the Catholic Children’s Society (Plymouth) to benefit from their transaction.
b) eBay Users and PayPal Users (acting as Donors) can make donations not connected to specific eBay listings to the Society, for example by making a donation when they buy an item on eBay.

Annual Appeal

Thank you so much to all our supporters who gave so generously on Sunday 28th August 2011. Many of you increased your gift through Gift Aid. Thank you so much for your support. Without your prayers, voluntary help and financial support we can not carry out our work.

Become a Volunteer

Would you consider being a volunteer? There are many different ways you can help according to your time and inclination. These little tasks make a huge difference to the money we raise, and the care we’re then able to give. Read our Volunteer invitation for more information and then send a message with our contact form.

Raise some funds!

Some people run coffee mornings or jumble sales for us. We desperately need your donations to help us provide our work across the diocese.

Make a bequest

Remembering the Society in your will is a gracious way of helping the next generation get the best start in life. It’s very simple, too. By remembering the Catholic Children’s Society (Plymouth) in your will, you can reduce your estate’s liability to Inheritance Tax, currently payable at 40% of the balance of your estate over the allowance (currently £325,000). If you have already made your will, it can simply be updated. If not, you may like to contact your solicitor, or ask the Society for a useful guide on making a bequest.

Catholic Singles

Catholic Singles is an organisation which aims to help practising Catholics meet other Catholics and support Catholic Parishes and Charities. Half the initial joining donation for this organisation is donated to the charity of your choice, please make the Catholic Children’s Society your choice. To find out more go to www.catholicsingles.org.uk

Pray for us

The Society is committed to working with and for all families and children, whatever their belief. But it takes inspiration for its work from a commitment to putting the Christian gospel into action.

Jesus said:

Unless you become like little children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
