Keeping Calm
Parents, arguments and anger
Many parents have problems with anger – their own and their children’s. This five week course ideally is for those who have already taken part in a parenting programme, but could be used with new parents too.
The programme offers parents the opportunity to identify what makes them angry and how they currently handle it, as well as suggesting some strategies for keeping calm. It also provides parents with insights into children’s anger and ways of teaching anger management to their children. The course also touches on the effect that parents’ arguing has on children, and how children can learn valuable skills from their parents’ positive handling of disagreement.
This programme has been developed by Positive Parenting, with additional material from One Plus One, and uses a parents’ hand book and a video.
